East Malvern

The 2001 season was far and away the greatest in Tooronga Malvern’s history up to that point with both seniors and reserves claiming Division Three premierships, the latter without losing a match. Promoted to Division Two as a consequence the Panthers ultimately made it as far as Division One but the 2011 season brought a wooden spoon and relegation back to Division Two. In 2012 they finally improved on the Class of 2001 by procuring a Division Two flag thanks to a 14.10 (94) to 12.11 (83) grand final defeat of Oakleigh District. Now known as East Malvern the Panthers have stayed in Division One since and the 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 seasons saw them contesting the finals at that level. The 2018 season brought a grand final appearance but after starting well the Panthers became distinctly second best and went on to lose by 38 points. A year later they dropped down the list to third.
